Steely RMI

Melting & Rolling Process

Melting & Refining

Steely RMI PLC applied Ladle Furnace (LF) refining, Lining Optimization Design (LOD), and Electric Induction Reheating Furnace (EIRF) technologies to produce high-grade steel billets, with a total melting capacity of 330,000 metric ton of billets from scraps. These technologies ensure precise control of chemical composition, temperature, and impurities, while maximizing energy efficiency and operational uptime. By combining modern automation and metallurgical expertise, Steely RMI transforms raw materials into consistent, premium billets that serve as reliable inputs for rebar, wire rod, mesh wire, and barbed wire.

Rolling

High-quality steel billets are transformed into reinforced bars (rebar) and wire rods using modern rolling mills with advanced automation systems like Siemens S7-700. The process carefully shapes and strengthens the steel, ensuring each bar or rod has the right size, strong durability, and smooth surface. Using TMT (Thermo-Mechanical Treatment) technology, the bars are heated and cooled in a controlled process to make them extra strong on the outside while remaining tough and flexible inside—perfect for construction that must handle heavy loads and difficult conditions. With this technology and real-time automated control, Steely RMI PLC produces up to 620,000 metric tons of rebar and wire rods every year, reliably supplying Ethiopia’s building and industrial needs.
