Driving the Future of Steel
Steely RMI leverages 4th-generation industrial technology to ensure precision, efficiency, and sustainability.
Our facility is a hub of advanced engineering, featuring:
- Thermal Mechanical Treatment (TMT): Steely employs TMT technology in its rebar production to enhance the strength, ductility, and durability of steel. This process involves controlled heating and rapid cooling of the bars, producing a strong outer layer while maintaining a tough and flexible core. The result is Grade 75 TMT rebars that can withstand heavy loads, harsh environmental conditions. Using TMT technology helps to ensure consistent product quality and superior performance.
- Advanced Automation and Programmable Logic Control (PLC) Systems: State-of-the-art automation technologies drive the precision, efficiency, and reliability of our steel production processes. Our Programmable Logic Control (PLC) systems oversee critical operations throughout the production line, from melting and refining to rolling. These computer-based controllers continuously monitor equipment, adjust machine parameters in real time, and maintain precise temperature, speed, and pressure settings. Complementing this, the Siemens S7-700 automation platform provides advanced monitoring and control of every machine on the line, ensuring that each rebar and wire rod meets strict size and quality standards.By combining PLC and Siemens S7-700 technologies, Steely RMI PLC minimizes human error, enhances operational safety, and optimizes energy use across the production process. This integrated approach not only allows for high-volume, reliable production but also ensures consistent product quality for our customers. Through these advanced automation systems, Steely RMI PLC exemplifies modern, technology-driven steel manufacturing, maintaining both efficiency and excellence at every stage of production.
- EIRF (Electric Induction Reheating Furnace): This is a modern heating system used to reheat steel before it is shaped and rolled. Instead of using Heavy Furnace Oil (HFO), the furnace uses electricity to heat the steel more efficiently and cleanly. This technology helps to reduce harmful emissions such as carbon and sulfur, making the production process more environmentally friendly. At the same time, it improves energy efficiency and lowers operating costs, giving the company a strong competitive advantage in the steel industry of Ethiopia.
- Advanced Technologies for Efficient Production: modern technologies such as Lining Optimization Design (LOD), Ladle Furnace (LF), and Power Factor Correction (PFC) are used to make its steel production more efficient and reliable. LOD extends the life of furnace linings, so the equipment can run longer with fewer maintenance stops. The Ladle Furnace (LF) allows precise heating and refining of molten steel, improving quality and consistency. Meanwhile, the Power Factor Corrector (PFC) ensures electricity is used efficiently, reducing energy waste and keeping machines running smoothly. Together, these systems help the company save energy, lower costs, and maintain continuous, high-quality steel production.
- Digital Integration: Steely RMI PLC is implementing a modern ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system to connect and manage its key business operations through one integrated digital platform. This system helps the company plan and coordinate activities such as procurement, production, inventory, sales, and delivery more efficiently. By improving supply chain coordination, increasing inventory visibility, and enabling real-time shipment tracking, the ERP system enhances operational efficiency and service reliability for customers across Ethiopia.
- Continuous Casting Machine (CCM): The Continuous Casting Machine (CCM) is a key technology that transforms molten steel from the furnace directly into billets in a continuous, automated process. Unlike traditional methods that require multiple steps, CCM ensures uniform shape, consistent chemical composition, and superior surface quality while minimizing material waste and energy consumption. By using CCM, Steely can efficiently produce high-quality steel billets.
